Strengthening Cooperation between the Technical University of Sofia and Siemens

The long-standing partnership between the University and the global technology leader has been further reinforced with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding today.

Dr. Eng. Boriana Manolova

“Siemens has a long-standing and strong connection with the Technical University of Sofia – a significant proportion of the company’s employees are graduates of the University,” said Boriana Manolova, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens for Bulgaria and North Macedonia. In addition to supporting professional careers, the company also plays an important role in students’ education and practical training through the laboratories established by Siemens at the University.

“Students need further to develop their skills in a real business environment,” said the Rector, Prof Georgi Venkov. Cooperation with companies such as Siemens opens up numerous opportunities for future engineers’ professional careers and is of crucial importance for the University’s strong standing in international ranking systems.”

For this reason, over the coming years the Technical University of Sofia, as a member of the European University of Technology (EUt+), together with Siemens, will implement joint research projects, test emerging technologies, develop training programmes for a global audience, provide expert knowledge and guidance to students and start-up companies, and collaborate with EUt+ partners on a range of research initiatives. Through these activities, they aim to respond to the growing challenges facing the world by harnessing the power of science and technology.
