Students from four European universities within the EUt+ Alliance, along with lecturers from five countries, participated in the initiative, which was funded by the Erasmus+ programme. Following several months of online training, the final stage was held in Sozopol during the 6th International Youth Conference.
The initiative, launched by the Technical University of Sofia, represents the next stage of the now well-established Student Innovation Hub – a supplementary entrepreneurship training programme for engineering students, designed to help them transform their innovative ideas and projects into viable entrepreneurial ventures. For the first time, TU-Sofia is offering a mentoring scheme and a business start-up training programme, with support from world-renowned experts in the field.
Twelve teams took part in the final challenge with project presentations. The winning team was from the Technical University of Sofia, with their project Solar Blinds, which had already received several prestigious awards this month.
The competition also extended to the sports field. On the beaches of Sozopol, the future engineers and entrepreneurs showcased their talents in football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. They also had the opportunity to explore a part of Bulgaria’s rich historical and cultural heritage – in both Plovdiv and Sozopol.
This marks the beginning of a series of international entrepreneurship initiatives and training events within the framework of the European University of Technology Alliance. With a strong focus on supporting students and their future careers, TU-Sofia will continue to play an active role in organising further summer and winter schools, short-term courses, and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) in the field of entrepreneurship.
