“Erasmus+” students from TU-Sofia and international “Erasmus+” students involved in program projects shared their impressions and experiences from their time at partner universities. The forum showcased opportunities for educational and practical mobility. Students and doctoral candidates had the chance to meet university representatives, ask questions regarding the mobility opportunities under the “Erasmus+” program, and receive guidance on the application process.
Students develop skills to thrive in diverse cultural environments. In the future, they become specialists who embrace experimentation, cultivate curiosity, and broaden their horizons. They encounter new challenges, forge friendships, explore different worlds and languages, unlock new possibilities, and many even find love. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, noted that current statistics indicate that approximately 20 percent of those who participated in the program have found their significant others, resulting in the birth of over two million babies from these relationships. She compared this baby boom to a city like Sofia.
The “Erasmus” program is the most widespread and recognized program within the European Union. It facilitates the exchange of experiences and familiarization with the latest technologies, research developments, and shared knowledge. The program commenced in 1987 when the European Union consisted of eleven member states and had approximately 3,200 participants. To date, it has over sixteen million participants from across the EU. Through the “Erasmus+” program, students are introduced to various cultures, faculty, and experts from other universities, acquiring knowledge that enables them to discover and pursue their future careers.
The event was attended by the Rector of TU-Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Kralov; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria; Prof. Lidiya Galabova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Integration; and Prof. Tasho Tashev, Dean of the Faculty of English Engineering Education and Institutional Coordinator for the “Erasmus+” Program at the Technical University of Sofia.
