About EUt+

The European University of Technology (EUt+) is an alliance of nine technological universities from across Europe, united by the ambition to establish a fundamentally new university – highly inclusive, active both locally and at European level, and creating top achievements and added value for the European society, economy and culture.

EUt+ aims to attain a radical transformation in the quality, productivity and efficiency of technologically-oriented higher education. EUt+ will have its physical presence in eight European countries and will support a multi-level educational environment which makes a real impact at local and European level and brings significant social and economic benefits to all stakeholders.

By 2025, EUt+ will undergo a process of transformation which will turn it into a global portal for education, scientific research and innovation embedded in all European regions and addressing essential social needs through human-centred technology. EUt+ will epitomise the European vision of constructing a socio-technical world, recognising people and society as the main beneficiaries of technological progress through an application-inspired and solution-focused approach. EUt+ will appeal not only to those who traditionally attend university – every citizen will be invited to participate in building a powerful Europe through EUt+ activities. Uniting over 120,000 students and academic staff, and deeply rooted in the community, EUt+ will serve as an inclusive mirror of the European society, embracing its ethos and values, while providing viable solutions to the multiple challenges of European integration and sustainability.

Through the synergy of its members and associated partners, the European University of Technology intends to embark on the following new missions:

  • Proposing new ways to diversify the university education of European citizens, empowering them with the critical competences needed to transform Europe;
  • Enhancing economic performance and fostering flexibility and sustainability of all participants through partnership and critical analysis; and
  • Taking targeted political actions towards finding sustainable solutions by means of cultural reflection on the complex issues of technology and society.

By devising progressively integrated development programmes, EUt+ partners will design a multilingual and multicultural learning environment, harmonised curricula and shared extended infrastructure to the benefit of all participants at local, national and transnational levels. There will be a continued focus on a wide range of issues, such as sustainable development, freedom, security and respect for diversity. The educational process will promote learner autonomy, implementation of inclusive methods, interdisciplinary approaches, self-study and self-assessment.

Educational initiatives will take deep root in the special and interdisciplinary research programmes, a great number of which will also be addressing societal issues. Employing pilot initiatives, EUt+ will strive to develop common European education, accredited at national and European level, which will substantially foster mobility.

This project is coordinated by the Université de technologie de Troyes (France) and includes another seven members:

Université de technologie de Troyes (France) – coordinator;

  • Technical University of Sofia (Bulgaria);
  • Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (Germany);
  • Technological University Dublin (Ireland);
  • Riga Technical University (Riga);
  • Universitatea Tehnică din Cluj-Napoca (Romania);
  • Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (Spain);
  • Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus);
  • University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS) .

The EUt+ governance is shared equally among the member institutions on a rotational basis. It is envisaged that the project activities will result in establishing a confederation of equal partners – the participating universities. Within the framework of this initiative, other projects will be applied for under different European programmes, which will ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the common ideas, values and vision.

The pilot initiatives in the initial phase share the best practice in the field of knowledge transfer, industry support for various university initiatives (internships, placements, industrial projects, professional competitions, etc.). They benefit the partner universities, the national economic environment, as well as other national and international institutions by means of transfer and capacity building.

EUt+’s ambition is that by 2025, the pilot initiatives and experiments should produce the following results:

  • European Master’s Degree in Engineering / European Title in Engineering;
  • European dual-training programmes;
  • European research unit for engineering pedagogical education;
  • Network technology platforms for shared projects among university laboratories;
  • Integrated higher education institutions;
  • Interdisciplinary pan-European research laboratory on science-technology relations;
  • Platform for public exchange involving citizen participation.

By already comprising nine partners in nine countries, with a total of over 100,000 students united in a single European university, EUt+ demonstrates a high standing in the European educational area. EUt+’s vision and mission are underpinned by the key role that technology plays in building an inclusive and sustainable future. Humanity today is facing challenges of unprecedented breadth, such as climate change, overconsumption of resources, as well as the social effects arising from the transition to a digital society.

EUt+ is a symbol of Europe’s future, building a leading institutional model for an entirely human-centred technology development.

EUt+ is proving its leading position among European universities as a pioneer towards a model of profound institutional transformation of the European higher education environment, centred around the idea of “Think Human First”.
